2010 Subaru Legacy B4, the sporty saloon is based on the 265hp (197kW) 2.5GT turbocharged powertrain but comes with a range of subtle performance touches such as 18in wheels and a discrete bodykit to differentiate it from the more mundane models.

The engines in the Legacy range have also been improved. The 2.5l SOHC, based on the older 2.0l version, got improved head cooling resin-based intake manifold and optimized piston shape. All the engines are paired with the Lineartronic transmission, which now uses a chain-type variator. The manual mode uses six pre-selected gear ratios that allow the driver to shift manually using the steering wheel paddle shift controls. The shift response occurs within 0.1 seconds or less.

Subaru has revealed the new 2010 Legacy Touring Wagon. The Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon power comes from a 2.5-litre SOHC, a 2.5-litre turbocharged DOHC and a 3.6-litre DOHC with 6 cylinders. All three are horizontally-opposed boxer engines.

The first is a naturally aspirated flat four-cylinder with 170hp (125kW) and 170 lb-ft (230Nm) of torque, the second is a turbocharged version which cranks out 265hp (195kW) and 258 lb-ft (350Nm) of torque. Sitting at the top of range is a flat 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine which produces 256hp (188kW) and 247 lb-ft (335Nm) of torque.

The 2010 Subaru Legacy Touring Wagon comes with either one of three transmissions: a Lineartronic gearbox, a 5-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Japanese carmaker has announced today the 2010 Subaru Legacy price for the North American market. Pricing for the all-new 2010 Subaru Legacy(R) sedan – start at $19,995 — $800 lower than the previous generation Legacy sedan — which set a sales record in 2008.

The new Subaru Legacy provides for a bolder design language in a larger midsize package. The 2010 Subaru Legacy, whose predecessor is renowned for its sporty handling and reliability, now has a longer wheelbase, four inches of extra rear seat legroom and a new powertrain lineup featuring the new Subaru Lineartronic(TM) CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). All Legacy models now feature an all-new front McPherson strut, rear double-wishbone suspension with front and rear stabilizer bars for improved ride & handling. Additionally, all Legacy models are upgraded with a much larger 18.5 gallon fuel tank for better operating range. Read more
